Dead: Hilton Surpass 100k and no-AF Hilton 75k still a thing!

Few months ago Amex publicly offered 100k on Surpass and 75k on no-AF Hilton card. Soon after card holders were able to generate referrals with 100k and 75k signup bonus. Then on 06/30 the offer expired and so did the increased signup links. However, sometime later the referral links with 100k and 75k started working again.

The Referral Links

But the T&C says offer has expired…

If you go to above links, click on “Rates and Fees”, and scroll down to “Offer Terms”, then you get to read the following:

“If your application is not received by 06/30/2016, you will not be eligible for the 100,000 Bonus Points offer and the friend who referred you may not receive the Referral Bonus even if your application is approved. American Express reserves the right to modify or revoke offer at any time.”

But the good news is that these links still do work and the 100k and 75k bonus are still being granted when minimum spend is met.

Data points

Needless to say you probably want to see some data points before applying for these cards. You can find some in this reddit thread and you may be able to dig some data point from this flyertalk thread.

What do you get per referral?

I have already maxed out 80k per year referral limit on Surpass so I no longer get referral bonus for new Surpass signups. So, if you wish to use someone else’s referral for Surpass then feel free to do so. I do however still get referral bonus on no-AF Amex Hilton card.

The referral bonus rate on no-AF Amex hilton is 10k and 15k for Surpass. I believe the normal rate is 10k for Surpass but this is a special links that provide 15k per referral. Before you ask, yes, I continue to receive referral bonus from applicants who have used my referral links even after 6/30.

How did you generate these referrals?

You want to click the link below and login to generate the referral links:

These links were originally shared  on this reddit post but I am not sure if it still works.

Should I get both? What is optimal route?

If you want to maximize the deal, you should get both these cards. 75k and 100k are the highest bonus we’ve seen in both these cards. Now, once you get these cards, you might want to do the following:

  1. cancel Surpass in a year time but leave no-AF card as it is.
  2. upgrade no-AF card to Surpass some time later. As reported in this reddit post, the upgrade bonus offer has been as high as 100k.
  3. downgrade to no-AF card a year later.
  4. repeat as long as this trick works.

Non-Referral Links

Since now I am aware of working non-referral links, I figure I should post them here.
